Welcome to MY FAVORITE TEACHER, The Gazette's special recognition program for our community's favorite teachers.

In order to nominate a teacher, you must be currently enrolled as a K-12 student in a public or private school in Montgomery. Prince George's, or Frederick county in Maryland. Nominated teachers must be currently employed as a teacher in a public or private school in one of these three counties.

RULES/HOW IT WORKS:

1. Nominate your favorite teacher by filling out the form below. You may nominate any teacher who taught you from K-12.
2. For each teacher you nominate, you will be directed to an online page where you may enter into a sweepstakes to win an iPad. The sweepstakes winner will be selected on or about October 10, 2012, and with permission of winner's parent/guardian, will be announced in The Gazette and The Star newspapers on or about November 16, 2012. 3. Once all nominations are in, The Gazette will choose up to 10 finalists at the elementary, middle and high school levels for each county--Montgomery, Prince George's and Frederick. We will select these finalists based on the most compelling nominating essays. Grammar, spelling and punctuation count! Finalists will be posted on FavoriteTeacher.Net on or about October 25, 2012.
4. From October 25-November 9, 2012 (dates subject to change), everyone can vote from among the finalists to choose the winners. You do not have to be a student to vote.
5. The teachers who receive the most votes will win the title "My Favorite Teacher" and prizes to be determined. There will be one winner in each county at each level--elementary, middle and high school. In the event of a tie, The Gazette will choose the winner, at its sole discretion, based on the quality of the nominating essays.
6. The Gazette will interview (on video) and photograph each winning teacher for publication in December 2011 of special pages announcing the winners in The Gazette and The Star newspapers, and online on Gazette.Net and FavoriteTeacher.Net.
7. With your parent or guardian's permission, we will publish your name and your nominating essay along with the announcement of the winning teachers in The Gazette and The Star newspapers and online at Gazette.Net.
8. The Gazette and/or The Gazette's My Favorite Teacher sponsors will award a prize or prizes (to be announced) to each winning teacher no later than January, 2013.
