D.C. chefs discover Montgomery county
This year Yannick Cam (Bistro Provence) and Robert Wiedmaier (The Mussel Bar) added luster to Bethesda. Againn and Matchbox found niches in Rockville.
With much to savor, here are a few of my favorite things:

- Sesame-seared tuna and a trio of dipping sauces at Capital Grille in Chevy Chase.
- Crunchy calamari at Coal Fire in Gaithersburg.
- Conch, shrimp and scallops with lily root at China Jade in Rockville.
- Longan, peas, shrimp and scallop at New Kam Fong in Wheaton.
-Flash-fried red snapper at Karma/Penang in Gaithersburg.
- Shawarma platter with salads at Pita Hut in Rockville.
- Pizza bianco at Slice of Olde Towne in Gaithersburg.
- Basil pork crisp at Sabai, Sabai Simply Thai in Germantown.
- Pollo Ever at Sardi's Chicken in Gaithersburg.
- Lamb rogan josh at Shangri-La in Bethesda.
- Rape Catalana at Sol de España in Rockville.

Whitestone pizza at Flippin' Pizza in Silver Spring.
Frixos platter (spinach pie, sausage and lamb chops) at Yamas in Bethesda.
Kubideh kabob, shirin polo and albalou polo at Tanoor in Rockville.
Wild mushroom pizza at Mia's in Bethesda.
Seaweed-infused, deep-fried flounder at Pacifica Café in Gaithersburg.
Lamb kabob and saffron basmati rice pilaf at Bistro LaZeez in Bethesda.
Just desserts: Flourless chocolate espresso cake at Capital Grille in Chevy Chase.
