College offers computer courses in Eldersburg

Carroll Community College announced a new agreement with Episcopal Ministries to the Aging in Eldersburg, which allows the college to offer computer courses to the public at the south Carroll location.

The ministries’ corporate office building is at 576 Johnsville Road, Eldersburg off of route 32. Classes will be held in the EMA IT Training Room.

Carroll Community College will offer day time computer courses, mainly one day Microsoft Office courses, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, from beginning to advanced levels. Hours of courses will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. One day courses are recommended for those currently using Microsoft Office Programs with some level of proficiency and include a complimentary continental breakfast and a boxed lunch.

Word Level 1: Learn how to create letters, memorandums and reports with a focus on the importance of maintaining proper business formatting. Other topics include spell checking, copying and moving text as well as exploring menus, tool bars and enhancing documents. This hands-on course will benefit users of all versions of Word. Prerequisites: Experience with a mouse, keyboard and Windows. Cost: $185 (Md. senior adults: $70), includes text and lunch; Course #: DAP014D3F; Feb. 2; or Course #: DAP014E3F, March 7.

Excel Level 1: Students will construct simple worksheets, use formulas and functions, format cell contents, work with dates and text features, restructure worksheets, and develop charts. Other topics include using Excel menus and toolbars, and editing, saving and printing worksheets. This hands-on course will benefit users of all versions of Excel. Prerequisites: Experience with a mouse, keyboard and Windows. Cost: $185 (Md. Senior Adults: $70), includes text and lunch; Course #: DAP017B3F, Feb. 14; or Course #: DAP017E3F, March 23.
