Lights brighten the holidays at Gaithersburg Jingle Jubilee

About 1,000 people welcomed the holiday season at Gaithersburg's annual Jingle Jubilee and Tree-Lighting Ceremony at the City Hall Concert Pavilion in Olde Towne.
Santa arrived on a fire truck from the Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Department.
The two-hour event Dec. 6 featured costumed characters and holiday music by the Gaithersburg High School Holiday Ensemble. Free hot chocolate was served by Gaithersburg-Germantown Jaycee volunteers.
The John M. Carter Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9862 collected 175 holiday greeting cards to send to men and women serving overseas, said city spokeswoman Britta Monaco said. The veterans also will send large carton of donated toiletries, batteries, stationery and other items to U.S. troops.
