Boys basketball: Late basket lifts Queen Anne to victory
Lions earn one-point win a day after beating defending league champs
The Queen Anne School boys' basketball team earned victories Monday and Tuesday to run its record to 6-1. After notching their first road win of the season, 57-45, on Monday at defending Potomac Valley Athletic Conference champion Field School, the Lions slipped past visiting Edmund Burke, 48-47, on Tuesday.
Edmond Wright scored the last of his 17 points on a layup with 1.4 seconds left on the clock to lift Queen Anne over Edmund Burke. Larry Haley had 19 points and 14 rebounds.
On Monday against Field School, Haley scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half and had 10 rebounds. Wright added 17 points and 7 assists. The key to Monday's win was the Lions' effort on defense. Miles Meadows had 2 blocked shots and Dean Bolt had 4 steals, as Queen Anne shut down Field's offense.
