The Good Counsel girls basketball team continued its hot start to the season with a 56-50 win over West Springfield (Va.) Saturday. Senior guard Katie Sheahin put in another sterling performance, producing 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals.

Senior guard Sarian Snyder added 13 points and 4 steals for the Falcons, who made 10 of 12 free throws in the final 8 minutes to seal the victory.

Montrose Christian 77, Mercersburg Academy 18

Using a stifling full-court press, Montrose Christian pounded visiting Mercersburg Academy (Pa.), 77-18, Saturday to improve to 2-0 on the young season.

"They had trouble handling our press," said Mustangs coach Stu Vetter, whose team opened up a 25-4 lead after one quarter of play. "We forced a lot of turnovers."

Senior forward Isaiah Armwood paced the Mustangs with 20 points. Senior center Mouphtaou Yarou added 19 points and 6 blocks and freshman guard Justin Anderson chipped in seven assists.
