Not all East Village residents want fenceThe article on Judge David A. Boynton’s decision ordering the removal of the fence erected by East Village’s Board of Directors noted the views of residents who supported the installation of the fence and the apparent intention of the board to file another motion for a stay of the order (‘‘Judge orders Village fence torn down,” Nov. 28). That is one-sided coverage. Not mentioned was the views of East Village residents who were angered by the fence’s installation and by the fact that we whose assessment money was used to pay for it and for the legal costs were never consulted before the board decided to act. Now, apparently, more of our assessment funds will be spent in continued litigation. At least The Gazette might have acknowledged that not all of us are pleased with the board’s behavior or its stewardship of our funds. I remain hopeful that reason may yet prevail in this matter and that the board will yield to the rulings of the justice system, save further expenditures of time and residents’ money (except, of course, for the cost of demolition for which we will now be responsible), and attempt to repair the damage to relations between our community and that of North Village⁄Picton.
