Adelphi resident pleads guilty to selling licenses to illegal immigrantsTuesday, Dec. 5, 2006An Adelphi woman pleaded guilty to charges of producing and delivering illegal Maryland driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants and others in the Washington, D.C. area. Ana Maria Lorena Creque, 45, admitted to meeting with perspective license applicants who were willing to pay to have an illegal state license. Creque, who sold 162 licenses, continued this operation from the beginning of 2005 until the start of 2006, during which time she prepared paperwork for a car dealership in Beltsville, according to court documents. Creque’s clients would pay as much as $3,800 for an illegally issued license, and Creque would direct the applicants to a co-conspirator’s workplace at a the nearby Beltsville Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) building, where the applicants could finish the transaction. Creque paid the MVA co-conspirator about $1,300 for each license sold, according to the court papers. Creque faces up to 15 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Her sentencing is scheduled for April 12.
