Explosions were result of car fireWednesday, Nov. 29, 2006A Ford Focus was found ablaze when fire and rescue personnel were dispatched to what they believed to be a house fire early Monday morning. The fire led to explosions that nearby residents say shook their houses. The series of loud explosions were actually different parts of the car igniting, including the fuel tank and tires, said Capt. Oscar Garcia, a spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service. ‘‘We had many inquiries [about] fire trucks and explosions,” Garcia said. ‘‘This is the only incident listed in that area.” The car was found in the 10200 block of Proctor Street in Silver Spring. The owner of the car has not been identified and investigators have not determined the cause of the incident.
