Knights win Hempfield Classic
The Laurel Knights FC U-13 boys' soccer team won the title at the Hempfield Classic Tournament last weekend in Lancaster, Pa. Playing in the tournament's U-14 division, the Knights won all four of their games and outscored their opponents 14-1.
Marvin Martinez led Laurel with six goals in the tournament, while Edward Conteras added four goals. Alla Tesful scored twice, and Denis Rodriguez and Jake Miller each had one goal. Goalkeeper Andrew Davis registered three consecutive shutouts.
The team, which is part of the Laurel Soccer Club and plays in the National Capital Soccer League, also includes Omid Barr, Maximillien Berry, Theodoros Boumboulis, Andrew Davis, Edvin A. Hernandez, Rory McClain, Gregory Romain, Freddy Sanchez-Farfan and Jason Manzanares and is coached by Edvin M. Hernandez.
