Hospital appoints new members to board

Washington Adventist Hospital has appointed three new members to its governing board.

Carmen F. Camacho of Laurel is vice president⁄owner of Bud Miller Associates Inc. and a member and former chair of the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce, the Prince George’s County Business Round Table Advisory Group and past treasurer of the Prince George’s Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. David M. Brill of Washington, D.C. is the director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Washington Adventist Hospital, an interventional cardiologist, and an assistant professor of medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda.

Dr. Arshad M. Sheikh of Potomac is director of Women’s Services at Washington Adventist Hospital. He has 27 years of service and has held numerous leadership roles at the hospital. Sheikh is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is also in private practice in Takoma Park.

Seminar focuseson ‘Cultivating Commerce’

A lunch seminar titled “Cultivating Commerce: Tearing Down the Barriers to Business“ and sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. today at El Aguila Restaurant, 8649 16th St., Silver Spring. The event will feature Barbara B. Lang, president and CEO of the District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce. Cost is $25 for nonmembers; members pay $20. Program director honored

Beth Smith, a program director at Aspenwood, was recently honored by the Maryland Activity Coordinators Society as the Activity Professional of the Year. Aspenwood is a senior living community in Aspen Hill, which provides services to independent and assisted living residents.
