A belated thank you' to service members
As the weeks march by, I'm not always up to speed, and I want to apologize for not adding a Veterans Day message in last week's column. At this time, there are more than 370 troops from Maryland active in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are husbands and wives, parents and friends. When our national security is threatened, they are there with courage and devotion to face that threat on our behalf. To those who are currently serving and have served in the past, especially those from Savage, we thank you that even while political questions about both conflicts rage at home, you are steadfast in your duty.

Fill a bag for those in need
The Savage Community Association has left empty grocery bags at each house this past weekend, and they ask residents to fill the bag with nonperishable food items, such as cans or boxes, that will be donated to the Bread of Life food pantry at the First Baptist Church of Savage. The full bags will be picked up this weekend, so leave them on your front doorstep or porch, marked for SCA pickup.
