Team working on smooth transition for City of Frederick
A group of past, present and future city leaders will join various industry representatives in compiling the most pertinent information to help set the agenda for the City of Frederick's new leaders.
Mayor-elect Randy McClement (R), along with the five aldermen-elect, held a public meeting last week, during which he introduced a 16-person transition team who will immediately start its quest of "information gathering" in five major sectors of city government.
The five sectors are: public safety, governance and operations, community services, budget and finance and technical services.
Dale Driscoll is serving as chairman of the transition team and Alderman-elect Karen Lewis Young (D) will serve as the team's vice chairman. Driscoll is a government contracting service executive who has headed the campaigns of Del. Richard B. Weldon Jr. (Unaffiliated-Dist. 3B) of Brunswick, former Alderman Joseph Baldi (R), and former Lt. Gov. Michael Steele (R) during his 2006 senate run.
A public meeting is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m., Nov. 23, at the Municipal Annex building, 140 W. Patrick St. A final report on the state of city business will be submitted to the new administration Dec. 3.
The mayor's and aldermen's inauguration is set for Dec. 10.
