City offices, services will close for Thanksgiving
Bowie city offices and the Bowie Senior Center will be closed for Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 26 and also on the following day, Friday, Nov. 27. There will be no refuse or recycling services on these days; service will resume on the next regularly scheduled day. The Bowie Ice Arena, Bowie Gymnasium and city museums also will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The senior center also will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 28.
City Council members sworn in Monday
Winners of the Bowie city election, all of whom were incumbents, were sworn into office Monday night.
Those who took the oath included Mayor G. Frederick Robinson and city council members Dennis Brady (At large), Geraldine Valentino-Smith (At large), James Marcos (Dist. 1), Diane Polangin (Dist. 2), Todd Turner (Dist. 3), and Isaac Trouth (Dist. 4).
The council chose Marcos as Mayor Pro Tem, who will serve in place of the mayor at meetings and ceremonial events when the mayor is absent.
