Landscaper dies after fall in Bethesda
Man fell 30 feet after sustaining chain saw injury
A landscaper working at a Bethesda home was killed Saturday after falling from a ladder, according to Montgomery County Police.
The 35-year-old man, Hector Say Cupil of the 12200 block of Pumpkin Seed Court in Germantown, was trimming a branch on a tree at a home in the 6700 block of Selkirk Drive when he suffered a "critical injury to the upper part of his body" with a chain saw, said police spokesman Capt. Paul Starks. The man then fell off the ladder about 30 feet to the ground.
Other landscapers on the property had the homeowner call 911. Fire and Rescue Service workers pronounced Cupil dead at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will perform an autopsy.
"We do not suspect foul play," Starks said.
