New $27M deal means 30 new hires for Bethesda firm
Pentagon contract calls for e-business systems, Web support services
Catapult Technology of Bethesda, which provides technology and management services and systems to the federal government, has signed a 30-month, $27 million contract with the Department of Defense Washington Headquarters Services for an e-business enhancement and management project.
Catapult expects to add about 30 new employees to its current work force of about 700, said spokesman Eric Brahney, with the new workers to include software developers and engineers.
Catapult has previously provided the Pentagon with similar IT services under smaller contracts. Catapult was also recently awarded dual contracts with the Environmental Protection Agency and National Science Foundation valued at a total of $5.1 million.
"The Washington Headquarters Services ensures that the National Capital Area's [Department of Defense] facilities run smoothly, which in turn means the safety and security of our citizens is protected," said Randy J. Slager, CEO, chairman and founder of Catapult, in a statement. "We're excited and honored to oversee this project."
The main objective of the contract is to provide a full range of e-business systems enhancements, administration, implementation, operations and maintenance, database and Web administration services.
This award ranks Catapult as the company with the highest award value through the Streamlined Technology Acquisition Resources for Services government-wide acquisition contract, according to company information.
Brahney said Catapult is the primary contractor for the contract, with IT company Serco Inc. of Reston, Va., as the primary subcontractor.
Catapult Technology, founded in 1996, was named Government Contracting Firm of the Year by the Tech Council of Maryland in 2009; shared the Best in IT Infrastructure Award from the Outsourcing Center with the General Services Administration in 2009; and was ranked 21st among the federal government's Top 100 Government Wide Acquisition Contractors in 2008. Catapult, which has been regularly listed among the nation's 5,000 fastest-growing privately held companies by Inc. magazine, saw its revenues increase from $33.4 million in 2005 to $107 million last year, according to the magazine.
