Two men treated after dog attacks
Three Germantown dogs have been quarantined in their home following attacks that sent two men to an emergency center Saturday, according to Montgomery County Police.
The two pit bull mixes and a border collie are quarantined for 10 days at their home in the 13400 block of Burnt Woods Place in the Waters Landing neighborhood while police investigate, said Capt. Michael Wahl of the animal services division.
"It's a standard procedure for an animal to be quarantined following an attack," said Wahl.
No charges or citations have been filed against the owner of the dogs, said police spokeswoman Officer Melanie Brenner.
Police were called to the 2800 block of Amber Hill Court near Crystal Rock Trail in Black Hill Regional Park around 9 a.m., Brenner said. Police are investigating how the dogs got loose.
All dogs are required to be on a leash while on park property, "unless they are in one of our formal dog parks," said Sgt. Lauryn McNeill of the Maryland Park Police.
"People don't realize that dogs have a prey drive," and may run after a squirrel, bird or other animals, McNeill said.
The two Germantown men were treated for minor injuries and released Saturday from Shady Grove Adventist Emergency Center in Germantown, Brenner said.
