Festive fall time is here

The Savage United Methodist Church will hold its Annual Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 14. They will be serving homemade soup and sandwiches (ham, chicken salad and pulled pork). There will also be a craft fair, bake sale and white elephant room.
Also from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Nov. 14, the Savage Volunteer Fire Company holds a Craft and Vendor show with vendors offering handmade crafts, jewelry, beauty products, home goods, children's items, gifts and more. You can also sell your gold for cash. Proceeds from the bake table and kitchen benefit the Savage Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. The fire hall is located at 8925 Lincoln St. in Savage. Zipping away
Five cans of food or a new board game donated to Grassroots Crisis Center will get you a free zipline ride at Terrapin Adventures on Nov. 14 and 15. Owners Matt and Jeryl want to give something back to the community after having a successful year as a new venture in Savage. At 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 21, The Burke Family Singers will give a Concert at the First Baptist Church of Savage, 8901 Washington St. The group includes Mr. Sterlind Burke, Sr., principal of Hammond High School. Admission is two items of non-perishable food for the Savage food pantry Hammond High School also presents its fall musical, "The Importance of Being Earnest," at 7 p.m. on Nov. 12 and on Nov.13 and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Nov. 14. Tickets are $7 in advance or $9 at the door. The school is located at 8800 Guilford Road in Columbia.

If you have arthritis, it's time to exercise! There once was a notion that people with arthritis should not exercise because it might damage their joints. But according to the Arthritis Foundation, exercise is an essential component in keeping joints healthy, by reducing joint pain and increasing flexibility and endurance.
One easy way to get started on an exercise program is to come to the Savage Senior Center for eight Monday and Wednesday classes, 10 to 11 a.m. starting Monday. The cost is $27.
