Dale L. Richards, 64, of Williamsburg, Va., formerly of Gaithersburg, died Oct. 29, 2009, in Williamsburg.

Born Feb. 17, 1945, in Bridgeport, Conn., he was a son of the late Kenneth Richards and Josephine Paolucci Richards. He was the husband of Debra Richards for 29 years.

Following graduation from high school in Westport, Conn., Mr. Richards served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Vietnam era. He moved to the Washington, D.C., area in the late 1970s and began working with IBM. His hobbies included playing golf and volunteering as a baseball umpire.

Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, Dale L. Richards Jr. of Connecticut; three daughters, Jodi R. Ferrente of Florida, Lisa Richards and Irina Richards, both of Williamsburg, Va.; one brother, William Richards of Connecticut; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A funeral service was held Monday at Williamsburg Community Chapel. Burial followed in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20004.
