The low-income side of the street
Recently finished repaving of Parker/Arcola avenues is of such obviously cheap and shoddy material and quality, it's almost funny. Last year the county paved and remodeled Arcola Avenue, and did an amazing job smooth surface, safety islands, et al. This year, on the lower income side of Georgia Avenue, down Arcola and Parker avenues, the new surface is rough, covered with loose gravel, and looks to be 1/4 inch thick, like driveway sealer, not new pavement. I've never seen such poor quality road surfacing. I'm hoping the county withholds payment to the contractor.
I guess "the other side of the street" doesn't deserve the same treatment as the wealthier side? [County Executive] Ike Leggett: please drive down both sides of Arcola Avenue you'll see immediately how Montgomery County treats the richer and the poorer.
