Bowie State falls again
Bulldogs lose second game in a row after five-game winning streak
The Bulldogs ended their season at 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the CIAA. Bowie State got a 2-yard touchdown run by Ramono Flowers with 2 minutes, 49 seconds left to play, but Ryan Callahan's two-point conversion pass was unsuccessful.
Virginia State's Antwain Lyde got the scoring started for the Trojans with a 20-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Bowie State's Michael Gagne hit a 27-yard field goal just before halftime to make it 7-3. Rahoo Walker made it a 14-3 Virginia State lead on a 2-yard touchdown run with 9:38 to go in the third quarter. Gagne hit a 29-yard field goal with 4:31 to go in the third quarter to make it 14-6.
Bowie State outgained Virginia State, 318-214, but the Bulldogs hurt themselves with 11 penalties for 144 yards. Flowers carried 20 times for 186 yards. Terence Peete led the Bowie State defense with eight tackles, including three solos. Kyle Jackson added six tackles and an interception.
