City officials back their candidatesThe Nov. 6 election is an especially important one for Gaithersburg. City voters will choose three new members of our five-member City Council. We will be voting for Jud Ashman and Cathy Drzyzgula for City Council. For some time Jud and Cathy have demonstrated a passion and commitment to maintaining the quality of life in Gaithersburg that we all expect and deserve. The platforms of all the candidates are remarkably similar but Jud and Cathy have put words into action. Their longstanding community activities and willingness to publicly share their opinions and ideas demonstrate that they are already working on behalf of all city residents. They recognize that the strength of the city lies in the diversity of our neighborhoods, residents and ideas. Their experience and knowledge of city government will allow them to hit the ground running as the new council deals with the challenges of significant change. They will be able to focus on implementing new ideas and solving old problems to make Gaithersburg even better. Sidney A. Katz, Michael A. Sesma and Henry F. Marraffa Jr., Gaithersburg The writers are Gaithersburg mayor and councilmen, respectively.
