City leaders tour safety center
In lieu of their regular work session on Thursday, Mayor Sidney A. Katz, the City Council and City Manager Angel Jones toured Gaithersburg's emergency communications hub, the Public Safety Communications Center at 300 Quince Orchard Blvd.
Emergency Management Coordinator Skip Lanham led the tour around the center which includes an Emergency Communications Center dedicated to 9-1-1 calls and an emergency operations center allowing county-wide management of incidents.
City leaders saw how the system functions and how municipalities are considered in countywide emergencies, Lanham said.
They also saw the transportation management center which operates the county Ride-On bus system and traffic signals.
