Come out to help clean the West Laurel community, rain or shine
The community beautification project scheduled for Oct. 17 was rained out. It's back on Saturday rain or shine! Join other West Laurel residents in planting trees and perennials at the corner of Bond Mill Road and Route 198. We'll meet beginning at 10:30 am. Mary Lehman, who is leading the effort, will provide coffee and goodies to wake you up. Please bring your own gloves and basic gardening tools if you have them. Come on out. Teens can earn community service hours as well. For more information, contact Mary Lehman at 301-538-0436 or Mlehman1964@aol.com.
A resident on Bauer Lane recently had mail stolen from her mailbox. The thief then altered a check and attempted to cash it. Thanks to alert personnel at a local bank, the thief was caught and no money was lost, though precious time and effort were spent in opening new accounts, changing direct deposits and debits, etc. Sad to say, perhaps outgoing mail is best deposited at the post office rather than left in our mailboxes.
Mark your calendars now for Bond Mill Elementary's annual Holiday Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 21. This fun event is a great way to start or end your holiday shopping. Crafters from all over our area will be setting up shop in the BMES Multi-Purpose Room. You'll also have a chance to support the fifth grade fundraising efforts by buying lunch, snacks and yummy baked goods. If you're a crafter, contact Sandee Leibson at 301-497-3600 to reserve your table.
If you haven't registered for one of the upcoming classes at the West Laurel Community Building, you're really missing out.
