Four more debates set for hopefuls
Four untelevised debates for the mayor and City Council candidates will begin the final leg of election season starting tonight.
Candidates have already participated in three televised debates, concluding Tuesday night with the Twinbrook Civic Association-sponsored debate held after Gazette press time. Those will run on Chanel 11 at various times until Election Day.
The Woodley Gardens Civic Association, the Plymouth Woods Condominium Association and the College Gardens Civic Association will hold a debate in the College Gardens Elementary School multipurpose room at 7:30 p.m. today.
The King Farm Citizens Assembly will hold a forum for candidates at the King Farm Community Center at 300 Saddle Ridge Circle at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Community blog Rockville Central will hold a forum at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Thomas Farm Community Center in Fallsgrove. Candidates will be able to ask each other a question during one portion of the debate.
The last forum for candidates to face off before Election Day will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Rockville Senior Center, 1150 Carnation Drive.
Mayor Susan R. Hoffmann is challenged by Councilwoman Phyllis R. Marcuccio.
Ten candidates are vying for four council seats, including two incumbents, John Britton and Piotr Gajewski, and eight challengers, Carl Henn, Trapper Martin, Thomas Moore, Bridget Donnell Newton, Virginia Onley, Waleed Ovase, Mark Pierzchala and Max A. van Balgooy.
Election Day is Nov. 3.
