Habitat for Humanity to break ground on Thurmont home

Monday, Oct. 17, 2005

Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County plans to break ground on its new home in Thurmont during a ceremony at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday.

About 45 employees of CitiMortgage and Freddie Mac will take part in the ceremony, help clear the lot and build two wooden storage sheds to store construction materials and tools.

The two companies contributed $110,000 to Habitat to acquire the lot on Blue Mountain Road. The balance of the donation will help with construction costs.

The home is the 24th that the local Habitat chapter has built since it started in 1993. The organization is also building a home in Emmitsburg.
