Luxury aplenty in Accokeek home

Built in 2003 and inhabited by only a family of three, this lavish 12,000-square-foot house made of oversized old Victoria bricks is a virtually new and perfect for a large family with plenty of room to entertain and for overnight guests.
Situated on 12 wooded acres a little ways away from the main road — the driveway entrance begins at the right of a cul-de-sac that, at first, appears to be the end of Springvale Court in Accokeek — the property comes into view as an unexpected oasis off to itself.
Designer cherry wood entry doors greet visitors, and just beyond them is a wide open foyer with a cream-colored-with-bronzish-colored-trim marble floor and an inviting, curved dual staircase with balcony.
The area is open and spacious, with Palladian-style windows above, a formal living room to the left, a formal dining room to the right and a great room straight ahead, each bordered by white columns.
The great room also has Palladian windows, a two-story-high ceiling, three sets of French doors that lead to the deck, some built-in shelving and a double-sided fireplace that is shared with the adjacent room — an office with red walls and more deck-leading French doors.
The kitchen is a chef's dream and perfect for entertaining multiple guests: there are cherry wood cabinets with glass fronts, stainless steel appliances, a Miele dishwasher and steam oven, a huge sub-zero freezer, double ovens and a 17-foot-granite island that offers plenty of cabinetry and seating space plus a food-warming drawer and a Thermador six-burner stovetop with griddle and island hood.
Down the hall are a half-bath with an antique sink and a well-lighted, cozy sunroom with a fireplace and lots of windows. Brazilian cherry hardwood floors cover most of the first and second levels.
Though the house is large and roomy, it amazingly has a comfy, close-knit feel. It was built with an appreciation for privacy and personal space in mind. On the second floor, each of three bedrooms has its own private full bathroom and another two bedrooms have one full bathroom between them that's accessible from both rooms.
The exceptionally spacious master bedroom alone is more than a conversation piece: inside are French doors that lead to a private balcony that overlooks the backyard pool, two large walk-in closets and a double-sided fireplace.
The master bathroom is wall-to-floor tumble stone with a Jacuzzi tub with jets, separate sinks and a shower for two, with separate shower heads. The shower is very contemporarily-designed such that no shower door is needed.
The room across the hall could very well be considered a second master bedroom: it's large with a sitting area, office space, sizeable walk-in closet, fireplace and a full bathroom with an extra vanity area. Guest rooms have walk-in closets.
The basement area is accessed from one end of the first floor via a stylish spiral staircase with Brazilian cherry hardwood steps. In the carpeted basement are a bar area, an additional room with a full bath, a game room, fitness area, other bonus rooms and a large bathroom much like the master bath — with Jacuzzi tub with jets, another contemporary, no-door shower and closet — next to a room that leads to the outdoor pool area.
A second staircase at the opposite end of the basement leads back up to the main floor — near a laundry room, bath, and entrance to the attached three-car garage — and continues to the top floor.
