A young golf champion
Chevy Chase resident Clare Connolly, 15, a sophomore at Georgetown Visitation, recently won the Women's golf club championship at Chevy Chase Club. She is the second youngest girl to win the tournament, beating out a five-time winner.
With her brother Chris as her caddie, Clare was three down on the 13th hole. Her brother whispered in her ear saying it was time for a birdie. Clare then sank a 60-foot putt on the 14th hole getting the birdie. After a tie on the 18th hole, Clare hit her drive 250 yards down the fairway and on the green in one and a two putt for par, winning the tournament.
