Chevy Chase Marine dies in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom
Injuries were sustained during a non-hostile incident in July that is being investigated
A Marine from Chevy Chase has died from injuries sustained while in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Marine Col. Michael R. Stahlman, 45, died on Oct. 5 from injuries suffered in a non-hostile incident on July 31 this year in Anbar Province in Iraq, according to Tuesday statement from the Department of Defense. The department said this incident is under investigation.
Stahlman was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
