Four indicted in Frederick County armed robbery of liquor store
Group fled into Germantown; three also indicted in additional Frederick robbery
Four men have been indicted for robbing a Point of Rocks liquor store and leading police on a cross-county chase in August.
Steven Joseph Austin, 20, of the 1900 block of Wheatfield Drive in Germantown; Kevin Goncalves, 17, of the 17000 block of Cottonwood Terrace in Gaithersburg; Michael Antino Parada, 16, of the 19000 block of Churubusco Lane in Germantown; and Shahiyd Devonte Thomas, 16, of the 13000 block of Country Ridge Drive in Germantown were indicted on Sept. 25 in Frederick County Circuit Court, State's Attorney Charlie Smith said. They were each charged as an adult with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of robbery, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of theft under $500, two counts of using a handgun in the commission of a felony and one count of being a minor in possession of a firearm, he said.
Austin, Goncalves and Parada were also indicted Sept. 25 in connection with an Aug. 19 robbery at Philly's Cheesesteak Factory in Frederick, Smith said. They were charged with two counts of first-degree assault and one count each of armed robbery, robbery, theft of more than $500, theft of less than $500, false imprisonment and the use of a handgun in the commission of a felony.
"The indictments are not a surprise," said Dino Flores, Goncalves' Frederick-based attorney. "…We will follow through and examine all the evidence and take it from there."
Attorneys for Austin and Thomas did not immediately return calls for comment. Online court records did not list an attorney for Parada and his family could not be reached for comment.
The four led police on a 25-minute chase through Frederick and Montgomery counties on Aug. 28 after allegedly robbing Kerrigan's Liquors around 3 p.m. and firing shots at the owner, police said. They bailed out of their car in the Milestone section of Germantown and fled on foot, police said, and all were arrested the same day.
All are being held without bond.
