Capital Crescent trail worth saving
With regard to the letter by Seymour Deitchman on Sept. 9, "What's Chevy Chase's real motive in Purple Line fight?" I see no sinister motive. All residents of the Bethesda and Chevy Chase areas — and all the other areas that might be affected — should voice their opposition to this project, not only the ones that will be personally affected by closeness to the lines. The reason we should all be concerned is that the old and valuable [Capital Crescent] trail, which offers so much to people and animals, is going to be sacrificed to special interests and the wrong approach to transport expansion. It's high time we show respect to the environment not only with words but with actions. Isn't the trail, a breath of fresh air in the middle of the city, worth saving?
