Coyle to head up Hoffmann campaign
Mayor Susan R. Hoffmann announced last week that former mayor James Coyle will be her campaign chair.
Coyle served one term as mayor, from 1993 to 1995, and four terms as a member of the City Council, from 1985 to 1993.
He replaces political activist Margaret Griffin, who will remain on Hoffmann's staff.
Hoffmann, who is completing her first term as mayor, said she is honored to have Coyle managing her campaign.
"My campaign will benefit from his wisdom, experience and perspective and I am looking forward to working closely with him for the next several months," she said.
Since leaving office in 1993, Coyle has been executive director of the Public Risk Management Association and executive director of the non-profit Grass Roots Organization for Well-being of Seniors.
"I know the intricacies and behind-the-scenes details that encompass the role of mayor for our city, and I know Mayor Hoffmann is more than qualified for a second term at the job," Coyle said.
Former Councilman James Marrinan has also joined Hoffmann's campaign.
Second-term Councilwoman Phyllis R. Marcuccio is challenging Hoffmann for mayor. Her campaign is being managed by political activist and RedGate Advisory Committee chair Joseph Jordan.
The election is Nov. 3.
