Voters head to the polls Tuesday for primary election
Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voters around the state will go to the polls Tuesday to cast ballots in the primary election for county, state and federal officials.
Winners of the primary elections will go on to the general election Nov. 2.
In Montgomery County, primary election polls will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voters should bring their voter registration cards or valid photo identification, which can include a Maryland driver's license or Motor Vehicle Administration-issued ID card; student, employee or military ID card; U.S. passport, or any other state or federal government-issued ID card.
Voters also can provide a utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document that shows his or her name and address. Documents must be dated within three months of the primary election.
Early voting in person
Voters who cannot make it to the polls Tuesday can vote early in person this week.
Early voting sites, open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday, include:
-Bauer Drive Community Recreation Center, 14625 Bauer Drive, Rockville
-Germantown Recreation Center, 18905 Kingsview Road
-Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center, 14906 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville
-Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe St., Rockville
-Silver Spring Civic Building, 8525 Fenton St.
Anyone in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote. Voters should bring a form of photo identification during early voting.
Voting by absentee ballot
Applications to vote in the primary election by absentee ballot were due Tuesday; however, voters who still want to vote by absentee ballot can go to the Montgomery County Board of Elections today and fill out a late application for absentee voting.
If a person is unable to pick up and/or submit an absentee ballot to the Board of Elections, he or she can designate an agent to do so. An agent must be at least 18 years of age and not a candidate. Both the voter and the agent must complete an absentee ballot designation form.
Absentee ballots for the primary election must be received by the county's board of elections by 8 p.m. Sept. 14.
Locating a polling place
Voters can locate a polling place online at the Maryland State Board of Elections website at www.mdelections.umd.edu or the Montgomery County Board of Elections website at www.777vote.org.
The Montgomery County Board of Elections is at 18753-210 North Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg. Hours of operations are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
