Takoma Park artist
exhibits in D.C.
Takoma Park collage artist Marty Ittner, along with painter Michele Cormier, will be featured in the exhibition, "What We Left Behind," beginning Saturday at the Pierce School Lofts, 1375 Maryland Avenue NE in the District.
Both artists create visually dense works that reference the discarded physical and emotional remnants of our buy lives. In Ittner's artwork, the viewer takes on the role of an archaeologist discovering the cultural and natural debris left behind. Seemingly random scraps provide limited insight into a prior civilization.
An opening reception will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the gallery. The exhibit will be open through Oct. 30, and the hours are as follows: 1 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Visit http://art.evolvedc.com for more details.
