Man falls through skylight at Greenbelt fire station
Non-life-threatening injuries sustained while cleaning debris from the roof
A University of Maryland, College Park student using a leaf blower to remove debris from the roof of the Greenbelt fire/EMS station was injured Friday after he fell through a skylight and dropped 15 feet, fire officials said.
The 21-year-old male was removing the debris from the roof as part of a community service project when he fell through the skylight at around 3 p.m., said Mark Brady, a spokesman for the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department.
The Towson man was treated by firefighters and medics at the Greenbelt station and then transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries for evaluation and treatment, said Officer Kelly Lawson, a spokeswoman for the Greenbelt Police Department. He has been released from the hospital.
The man's name could not be released, Lawson said Wednesday morning.
The Greenbelt Police Department and the county's fire/EMS department are investigating how the man fell through the roof, Brady said.
