A Germantown man and three county youths have been charged with armed robbery, attempted first-degree murder and other crimes after holding up a liquor store in Frederick County and leading police on a chase.
The four led police on a 25-minute chase through Frederick and Montgomery counties in a silver Toyota Friday afternoon after allegedly robbing Kerrigan's Liquors in Point of Rocks around 3 p.m. and firing several shots at the owner, according to Lt. Tom Winebrenner of the Frederick County Sherriff's Office.
Police followed the car through Barnesville, Comus and into a neighborhood in the Milestone section of Germantown, where they bailed out of the moving vehicle and fled police on foot, said Capt. Thomas Didone, commander of the Montgomery County Police 5th District station in Germantown. The car hit a light post, curbs and went through a yard before coming to a stop against a red Jeep Cherokee in the 12400 block of Royal Crown Drive.
Michael Antino Parada, 16, of the 19000 block of Churubusco Lane in Germantown, Kevin Goncalves, 17, of the 17000 block of Cottonwood Terrace in Gaithersburg and Shahiyd Devonte Thomas, 16, of the 13000 block of Country Ridge Drive in Germantown were found hiding in the Milestone development, according to Winebrenner and Cpl. Jason West, also of the Sherriff's Office.
Steven Joseph Austin, 20 was arrested at his home in the 19000 block of Wheatfield Drive in Germantown without incident around midnight on Friday, West said.
No one was injured in the robbery or chase, Winebrenner said.
All were charged as adults with armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault, attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment and various handgun-related counts, West said. They are being held without bond.
Online state court records did not include attorney information. A man who answered the phone at Austin's address declined comment. Family of the other three could not be reached for comment.
