County police reports
The following is a summary of incidents in the 1st District (Rockville, Potomac, Derwood) and 4th District (Aspen Hill, Olney, Wheaton, Layhill) to which the Montgomery County Police responded recently. The words "arrested" and "charged" do not imply guilt.
1st District
Aggravated assault
-On Aug. 15 at 5:40 p.m. in the parking lot of JJ Muldoon's, 16131 Shady Grove Road in Rockville. A man was intoxicated and driving erratically in the parking lot. A person yelled at the driver, who got out of his truck, hit the person and displayed a knife. The people in the vehicle fled and one of them, a 40-year-old man from St. Cloud, Fla., was arrested nearby.
Graffiti
-Between noon Aug. 11 and 4:20 p.m. Aug. 12, in the 1600 block of Lewis Avenue in Rockville. White spray paint was used to write on the roadway.
-On Aug. 17 on the P-5 level at a parking garage, 330 Hungerford Drive in Rockville. Black paint was used to write words and initials.
Strong-arm robbery
-On Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. at Clearfield and Charles roads in Aspen Hill. A man was walking and saw a man fighting with another person, while a second man watched. They then attacked the man who was walking, took person property and fled on foot. They took personal property and fled on foot. A 22-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, both of Silver Spring, were arrested nearby.
-On Aug. 14 at 10:29 p.m. in the 2000 block of Veirs Mill Road in Rockville. An officer saw a man walking a bicycle when a man came up, shoved the victim and took off on the bicycle. A 20-year-old man from Norfolk, Va., was arrested nearby.
Vehicle larceny
-12400 block of Parklawn Drive in North Bethesda, between 4:47 and 5 a.m. Aug. 13. Officers responded to the report of a man walking around looking into vehicles; CDs, change, other small items were taken. A 20-year-old man from Rockville was located and arrested.
-AAMCO Transmissions, 818 Rockville Pike in Rockville, between Aug. 14 and 16. Catalytic converters were removed from a Jeep Cherokee, Chevy Trailblazer and Ford Explorer.
-Ivy League Lane and Hungerford Drive in Rockville, at 1 a.m. Aug. 16. Officers were sitting in a parking lot and heard a loud bang. They saw a man inside one vehicle. He fled on foot but was arrested nearby. Two GPS units were taken from two different vehicles. A 30-year-old man from Fort Washington was arrested.
-100 block of North Street in Rockville, between 10 and 11:19 p.m. Aug. 17. The victim had left the window down and a witness saw a man leaning on the vehicle. The victim's purse was removed.
-700 block of Landis Way in Rockville, at 3:37 a.m. Aug. 13. A man broke a vehicle window and set off the alarm. A 50-year-old man from Montgomery Village was found nearby and arrested
Commercial burglary
-International Collision Center, 14720 Southlawn Lane in Rockville, between 10 a.m. Aug. 13 and midnight Aug. 14. Forced entry; property taken. Several vehicles in the lot were also entered by unknown means.
-The Red Mill Beer & Wine, 7248 Muncaster Mill Road in Rockville, between 3:25 and 3:30 a.m. Aug. 14. Forced entry; property taken. A 21-year-old man from Gaithersburg was found nearby and arrested.
-New Mark Commons Pool, 607 Tegner Way in Rockville, between 9 p.m. Aug. 12, and 10:20 a.m. Aug. 13. Unknown entry; nothing taken.
-Mary of Nazareth Catholic School, 14131 Seneca Road in Darnestown, between Aug. 10 and 17. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.
Residential burglary
-4700 block of Macon Road in North Bethesda, at an unknown time between Aug. 13 and 16. Forced entry; property taken.
-5300 block of Randolph Road in North Bethesda, between 8 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. Aug. 16. No forced entry; property taken.
-2100 block of Lewis Avenue in Rockville, between 7:18 a.m. and 4:43 p.m. Aug. 17. Forced entry; property taken.
-300 block of Croydon Avenue in Rockville, between 7 p.m. Aug. 15 and 7 p.m. Aug. 16. A rear basement door window was broken, entry was not made; nothing taken.
-14700 block of Chisolm Landing Way in North Potomac, between 7:40 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. Aug. 13. Forced entry; property taken.
4th District
Aggravated assault
-On Aug. 14 at 3:20 a.m. in the 3100 block of Whispering Pines Drive in Aspen Hill. An argument between party-goers developed into a fight and a person was stabbed.
-On Aug. 13 at 2 a.m. in the 11200 block of Grandview Avenue in Wheaton. Two people were leaving an establishment where it is likely that a brawl took place. One cut the other with a knife. A 27-year-old man from Silver Spring was arrested at the scene.
Sex assault
-On Aug. 12 at 8:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of Weeping Willow Court in Aspen Hill. A 15-year-old female was sitting on the steps inside the entry to a building when a man made conversation with the girl and touched her inappropriately. The victim ran away. The man is described as Hispanic, 30-35, 5 feet 7, short hair, wearing a yellow soccer jersey, yellow shorts and brown sandals.
Robbery
-On Aug. 14 at 2:57 p.m. in the 3700 block of Kayson Street in Aspen Hill. Two men pulled a chain from a victim's neck.
Strong-arm robbery
-On Aug. 13 at 10:30 p.m. in the 12000 block of Bluhill Road in Wheaton. The incident involved people that were drinking together. Two people beat another and took personal property.
Commercial burglary
-Brothers Restaurant, 11401 Amherst Ave. in Wheaton, at 2 a.m. Aug. 14. Unknown entry; unknown if anything was taken.
Residential burglary
-13100 block of Tamarack Road in Colesville, between 6 p.m. Aug. 12 and 10:30 p.m. Aug. 13. Forced entry; property taken.

-3300 block of Janet Road in Silver Spring, at 2 a.m. Aug. 12. Domestic related; property taken.
-14500 block of Manor Park Drive in Rockville, on Aug. 16. Unknown entry; unknown if anything was taken.
-2100 block of Randolph Road in Wheaton, between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 12. No forced entry; property taken.
-11000 block of Dayton Street in Wheaton, at 4:05 a.m. Aug. 15. No forced entry; property taken. The burglar is described as a Hispanic male, 18-22, 5 feet 8 inches tall, thin to medium build, bushy black hair, clean shaven, wearing a black T-shirt with red letters and khaki pants.
