Community meeting to be held
A community meeting to review non-golf uses for the land, including a recreation park and a nature preserve, will be held with the Parks Department at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Brookside Gardens Visitor Center Auditorium, 1800 Glenallan Ave. in Wheaton.
The same day, the Sligo Creek Golf Association will hold a "Save Sligo Youth Tournament," for golfers 17 and under, at the course, located at 9701 Sligo Creek Parkway. The fee is $30, and the tournament begins at 4 p.m. with a shotgun start. Registration is limited to 40 golfers.
And on Sept. 10, the SCGA will hold a "Save Sligo Creek Golf Course" golf outing at 9 a.m. at the course. The fee is $75 per person or $280 per foursome. Registration is limited to 52 golfers. Prizes go to male and female "closest-to-the-pin" prize winners as well as the lowest nine-hole score for an individual and for a foursome.

Finally, at 2 p.m. Sept. 24, the Montgomery County Council's Planning, Housing and Economic Development Committee will hold a meeting to discuss the future of Sligo Creek Golf Course on the third floor of the council building, 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville.
