County police reports
The following is a summary of incidents in the upcounty to which the Montgomery County Police responded recently. The words "arrested" and "charged" do not imply guilt.
5th District
Aggravated assault
-On July 29 at 5:40 p.m. in the 13200 block of Astoria Hill Court. Officers were called to a domestic dispute and located a man armed with a gun in the parking lot. A woman was physically struck by a 44-year-old man who was arrested at the scene.
-On July 31 at 4:03 a.m. in the 18800 block of Bent Willow Circle. The two victims were at a party when a man entered the gathering, began to argue with the victims and displayed a handgun. He hit the victims with the gun.
Attempted strong-arm robbery
-On July 30 at 8 p.m. at Brandermill Drive and Appledowre Way. A woman was walking when a man approached her from behind and attempted to grab her purse. After a short struggle, he ran to a small gray vehicle. He was not able to obtain the purse.
Vehicle larceny
-9500 block of Melrose Square Way, overnight between July 28 and 29. Vehicle left unlocked; portable DVD player taken.
-9700 block of Hickory Spring Lane, overnight between July 28 and 29. Vehicle left unlocked; credit cards taken.
-24100 block of Welsh Road, overnight between July 28 and 29. Vehicle left unlocked; charger and miscellaneous papers taken.

-24100 block of Welsh Road, overnight between July 28 and 29. Vehicle left unlocked; wallet taken.
-19300 block of Circle Gate Drive, 20600 block of Hartsbourne Way, intersection of Crystal Rock Drive and Waters Landing Drive, 13500 block of Wisteria Drive, 20100 block of Laurel Hill Way, 19500 block of Crystal Rock Drive, 20200 block of Laurel Hill Way, between July 26 and 29. Method of entry varied.
Commercial burglary
-Christa McAuliffe Elementary School, 12500 Wisteria Drive, at 12:11 a.m. July 30. Forced entry; nothing taken.
-Montgomery County Liquor Store, 18323 Leaman Farm Road, at 1:01 a.m. July 29. Forced entry; property taken. Three 14- to 16-year-old boys were arrested.
Residential burglary
-23700 block of Woodfield Road, at 6:10 p.m. July 30. Unknown entry; unknown if property taken.
-13800 block of Rockingham Road between 4 p.m. July 29 and 2:15 p.m. July 30. Forced entry; nothing taken.
-19100 block of Dowden Circle between midnight and 7 a.m. July 31. No forced entry; nothing taken. A 23-year-old man was arrested.
