All stars shine in Prince-Mont's final meet

Fort Washington, Temple Hills swimmers have solid performances

Fort Washington's Kiara Leath finished fourth in the 9-10 girls' 25-meter breastroke at Saturday's Prince-Mont Swim League All-Star meet in Bowie, one spot ahead of teammate Akeyla Holley.

Though they went winless in the Division D dual meet slate, the Fort Washington Sharks recorded several top-five finishes as the Prince-Mont Swim League season came to an end Saturday with the All-Star meet at Belair Swim & Racquet in Bowie.

Don Brazelton kicked off the meet by finishing fifth in the 9-10 boys' 25-meter butterfly (18.50 seconds). He also took fifth in the 50 freestyle (34.91) and was fourth in the 25 backstroke.

Akeyla Holley recorded the Sharks' best effort when she finished second in the 9-10 girls' 50 free (34.70). She also took fifth in the 9-10 girls' 25 fly (17.77). Dakota Hinely took fifth in the 13-14 boys' 50 fly (32.13), placed sixth in the 50 free (28.95) and then finished fifth in the 50 back. Jared Saunders finished fifth in the 9-10 boys' 25 breaststroke (22.34). Kiara Leath finished fourth in the 9-10 girls' 25 breast (21.42).

Like Fort Washington, Temple Hills had only a small group of swimmers qualify for the All-Star meet, but their efforts were noteworthy. Ryan Harris delivered the team's best effort when he finished fourth in the 15-18 boys' 50 fly (29.07), then placed 10th in the 50 free. Allen Myers finished 12th in the 11-12 boys' 50 fly (39.78) and 10th in the 50 free (33.69).

Gloria Benton finished 18th in both the 11-12 girls' 50 free and 100 individual medley. Rachel Harris placed 16th in the 13-14 girls' 50 free. Riccardo Summers finished 17th in the 13-14 boys' 50 breast. Nicholas Willoughby was 16th in the 15-18 boys' 50 breast. Michelle Lachance finished 18th in the 15-18 girls' 50 breast. Jessica Collins placed 15th in the 15-18 girls' 50 breast. Stephen Melecki was 17th in the 15-18 boys' 100 IM.
