Magic lamp lit by Tree of LifeThe Tree of Life Theatre Troupe's Summer Intensive Theatre Camp will present "Aladdin" at 7 p.m. Aug. 15-16 and 2 p.m. Aug. 16-17 at Wards Chapel United Methodist Fellowship Hall, 11023 Liberty Road, Eldersburg. The performance caps off two dedicated weeks of theatrical instruction for 36 camp participants ages 8-16. With a captivating flying carpet, selected musical excerpts, and crafted interaction, the dramatic journey draws upon the action and adventure of the classic tale, while adding decisive theatrical possibilities to tell the story of Aladdin and his mystifying magic lamp. Now in its fourth year, the Summer Intensive Theatre Camp presents participants with the chance to learn about acting, auditioning, costume, lighting, and set design, make up and hair, improvisational skills, scene work and the chance to build a full production from start to finish. The innovative and successful program helps to teach participants more than the realm of basic drama, but being a complete actor and understanding the art of theatre. A family friendly show appropriate for all ages, "Aladdin" will be directed by Tony Cimino and assistant directed by Greta Stetson. The play was adapted by Cimino, Brooke Hain, and Jonathan Wagner.
