Swimmers bring home several solid finishes at All-Star meet
Several swimmers from the southern part of Prince George's County returned home with numerous accolades after Saturday's Prince-Mont All-Star meet.
The Fort Washington Sharks enjoyed a solid season in the Division D meets and Saturday morning they had several good efforts at All-Stars. Akeyla Holley finished third in the 11-12 girls' 100-meter individual medley and fourth in the 50 butterfly; Kimberly Scott placed 16th in the 13-14 girls' 50 fly; Ryan Bonomo was 15th in the boys' 8-under 25 breaststroke; Madison Tompkins took 11th in the girls' 8-under 25 breast; Jared Saunders finished 13th in the 11-12 boys' 50 breast; Kiara Leath placed ninth in the 11-12 girls' 50 breast; Rebecca Bonomo was ninth in the 13-14 girls' 50 breast; Nicole Scott was 18th in the 15-18 girls' 50 breast; David King placed 13th in the boys' 8-under 25 back.
In the individual events for Marlton, Zack Spain finished ninth in the 9-10 boys' 25 fly, 10th in the 25 breast; Thomas Sheppard placed 16th in the 9-10 boys' 25 fly; Jake Dohrman took sixth in the 13-14 boys' 50 free; John Gastright was 16th in the boys'
8-under 25 breast, 17th in the 25 backstroke; Alex Blair placed 17th in the 13-14 boys' 50 breast; Bailey Sheppard took 14th in the 13-14 girls' 50 breast; Carmela Rourke finished 15th in the 15-18 girls' 50 breast; Ben Lawless placed sixth in the 11-12 boys' 50 back.
The Temple Hills girls' 18-under medley relay (2:31.22) dropped a full second and finished 15th, while the boys' relay (2:22.46) dropped more than eight seconds and finished 17th. The TH mixed 8-under 100 free relay (1:35.43) added time and finished 16th. The Oxon Hill Swim team's boys' medley relay (2:24.22) also dropped two seconds but settled for 18th at the meet.
Temple Hills' Richardo Summers finished fifth in the 13-14 boys' 50 breast, 16th in the 50 fly and 17th in the 100 IM, Savannah Cover placed seventh in the 13-14 girls' 50 back, 11th in the 50 free and 12th in the 50 fly; Patricia Kelshaw was 17th in the 15-18 girls' 50 fly; Dominick Summers finished fifth in the 11-12 boys' 50 breast, 12th in the 50 free; Allen Myers finished ninth in the 13-14 boys' 50 free, 17th in the 50 back; Gabrielle Griffin placed seventh in the 13-14 girls' 50 free; Rachel Harris was 13th in the 13-14 girls' 50 breast and 16th in the 50 free; James Harmon took eighth in the boys' 8-under 25 breast; Mikyla Martinez finished 15th in the girls' 8-under 25 back;
Cameron Stafford of Oxon Hill finished 17th in the girls' 8-under 25 free and 25 back; Rachel Galbreath was 18th in the 9-10 girls' 25 breast; Hannah Galbreath was 18th in the 13-14 girls' 50 breast, 50 free and 100 IM; Kenny Weaver finished 18th in the 15-18 boys' 50 breast; Kahimi Vanzego was 17th in the 11-12 girls' 50 back; Chase Steinberger placed 13th in the 13-14 boys' 50 back; Bryan Edwards was 18th in the 15-18 boys' 50 back.
