Marlins swim team notches 23 wins
Nottingham swimmers perform well at league championships
The Nottingham Marlins swim team turned in a solid performance on Saturday during the Central Maryland Swimming League Division VIII Championships held at the Nottingham Swim Club in Mount Airy.
Nottingham claimed 23 wins in the 55-event competition which featured five teams from Carroll, Howard, Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties and swimmers from the ages of 4-18. This was the final meet on the Marlins' schedule.
Individual winners included Brian T. Martin (boys 25-meter freestyle, 6 and under), Hailey Snider (girls 25 free, 8 and under), Jacob Hall (boys 50 free, 25 backstroke 9-10), Timothy Burnett (boys 100 free, 50 back, 15-18), Evan Frick (boys 25 back, 25 butterfly, 8 and under), Kristin M. Ewart (girls 50 back, 11-14), David Baca (boys 50 back, 11-14), Abbie L. Shorter (girls 25 fly, 8 and under), Summer Bingaman (girls 50 fly, 11-12), Juli Burnett (girls 50 fly, 50 breaststroke, 13-14), Thomas Shorter (boys 50 fly, 13-14), Madeline Davis (girls 25 breast, 8 and under) and Elizabeth Firlie (girls 25 breast, 9-10).
Relay winners include mixed 100 free relay 8 and under, girls 200 free relay 11-12, boys 200 free relay 11-12, girls 200 free relay 13-14 and the boys 200 free relay 13-14.
The Marlins were formed 2003. They compete in the CMSL, which includes 52 teams in 10 divisions. Division VIII schedules include five dual meets season, several optional invitational meets and an individual championship event and the Divisional Championships each summer.
