Fort Washington swimmer leads way
Holley notches three top-three finishes in final Prince-Mont meet of summer
Fort Washington swimmer Akeyla Holley finished off the Prince-Mont Swim League season with a standout performance at the annual all-star meet on Saturday at Whitehall Pool & Tennis in Bowie.
Holley took second place in the 11-12 girls' 50-meter freestyle (30.25 seconds), third in the 50 butterfly (33.73) and third in the 100 individual medley (1 minute, 18.72 seconds).Earlier this summer, Holley established team records in the 11-12 girls' 50 fly and 50 free, breaking marks that had both stood for more than 30 years.

Fellow Fort Washington Shark Nate Thomas dropped more than a second from his seed time and took sixth in the boys' 8-and-under 25 breast (26.99).

"Almost everyone improved their time," said Fort Washington coach Marty Stewart. "Akeyla had a second and two thirds. She was rated No. 1 in most of her events since the fourth week. Arthur broke the minute in the 100 free for the first time for me. I was extremely pleased and proud of our kids. Every week they were dropping time."
