Prince George’s County narcotics enforcement officers and officers from the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Department raided the home of Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo on Tuesday evening.

A 32-pound package of marijuana was confiscated from the home, located in the 8500 block of Edmonston Road, at about 7 p.m., said Officer Henry Tippett, a Prince George’s County police spokesman.

Mario Ellis, spokesman for County Sheriff Michael Jackson, said his office executed the search warrant that allowed officers to enter the home.

Calvo said in an e-mail that as he was preparing to go to a community meeting on Tuesday evening, Prince George’s County SWAT team members burst through his front door, immediately shooting and killing his dogs.

Calvo said he was then bound and forced to kneel on the floor while his mother-in-law was bound face-down in another room in the mayor’s home.

‘‘I was told there was a warrant, but was never shown one,” Calvo said.

He added that he was eventually told by police that a package addressed to his home was intercepted that contained 32 pounds of marijuana. Calvo had brought the box inside from the front porch and put it on a living room table.

‘‘The county police then proceeded to turn our house upside down,” Calvo said.

Calvo said after three hours of questioning him and his family, the police said there was nothing at that time connecting them to the package.

Tippett said no one has been arrested or charged in connection with the raid. However, he said, ‘‘it is an ongoing investigation and everyone in the house is a person of interest.
