Lightning Running Club
looking for youth athletes
The Lightning Running Club Youth Cross Country running program invites boys and girls ages 4 to 14 to join its Fall 2010 youth cross country running season.
A developmental running program, LRC XC competes at the local, regional and national levels. The first team practice will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Aug. 17 at Kemptown Park in Monrovia. LOUYAA offers
lacrosse clinic
The Linganore-Oakdale-Urbana Youth Athletic Association Lacrosse Fall Clinic for new and novice boys and girls in kindergarten and eighth grade will run from Sept. 7 through Oct. 21 at Old National Pike Park in Mount Airy.
Cost for the camp is $40. Clinic participants will need a lacrosse stick, mouth guard, and goggles (for girls). To register, log on to www.luyaa.org.
Boys and girls basketball league signups available
Basketball Coaches Without Boundaries will offer a fall basketball league scheduled to start on Sept. 11 through Oct. 30.
Games will be held on Saturdays, and the league is open players in grades three to 12. Early registration discounts available now. To register a player or a team, visit www.bcwb.org, or call 301-663-0892.
BWCB will also conduct the all girl ballers fall league during the same dates at Thomas Johnson Middle School. Registration is through Aug. 9, and more information may be obtained by logging onto the website or by contacting Ami Abdul-Qasim at 240-429-8215.
