Judge Charles Bernard Day tapped for federal judgeship
Began career as assistant state's attorney in Montgomery County
Judge Charles Bernard Day, a former assistant state's attorney for Montgomery County, has been nominated for a U.S. District Court judgeship by President Barack Obama.
Day, 53, has served as a U.S. Magistrate judge for the District of Maryland in Greenbelt for 13 years.
His legal career began as an assistant state's attorney for Montgomery County in 1985. He was a civil litigation attorney from 1989 until his District Court appointment in 1997 at Sherman, Meehan, Curtin & Ain, P.C. in Washington, D.C., where he made partner in 1995.
Day received his law degree in 1984 from the University of Maryland School of Law, after earning a master's degree in judicial administration from American University in 1980 and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 1978 from the University of Maryland, College Park.
