Action needed on Sligo Creek Golf Course
The City of Rockville is already receiving interest from private golf course operators for Redgate Golf Course, which makes it even more puzzling why the Montgomery County Council continues to sit on the Sligo Creek Golf Task Force report, which back in January recommended pursuing the same course of action for Sligo Creek Golf Course.
It is heartening that the Montgomery County Revenue Authority and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission apparently have worked out a short-term agreement to keep Sligo open through November.
However, the council's inaction means that Sligo's hopes all rest on the revenue authority and the commission negotiating a long-term agreement. I would hope that council President Nancy Floreen would use some of the remaining council time this summer to schedule a hearing on the Sligo task force report.
