Abducted child returned to her College Park father Thursday, July 27, 2006 A16-month-old girl was who was taken from her father in College Park July 21 was returned to him last weekend after police in the Bronx, N.Y., arrested the girl’s mother and two accomplices.
The toddler’s mother, Jovanna Marc, was apprehended around 7 p.m. Friday, said Prince George’s County Police spokesman Cpl. Stephen Pacheco.
Earlier that day, around 1 a.m., Marc and three others used a crowbar to pry open the door of the child’s father’s apartment.
Once inside the residence, the suspects pistol-whipped the child’s grandmother and threatened to kill the baby’s father if he did not cooperate, said county police spokesman Cpl. Clinton Copeland.
An arrest warrant issued last Friday charged Marc, 38 with first-degree burglary and first-degree assault.
Pacheco said it was unclear whether Prince George’s investigators communicated with New York police and who else was apprehended with Marc.
‘‘We do know that everyone involved in [the assault and burglary] was arrested,” he said.
