Police blotter
The following is a summary of incidents in Silver Spring/Wheaton to which Montgomery County police responded recently. The words "arrested" and "charged" do not imply guilt.
Aggravated assault
- On July 2 at 4:39 p.m. in the 8700 block of Gilbert Place in Silver Spring. A suspect known to the victim threatened to harm the victim and fired a shot into the ceiling.
- On July 4 at 10:57 p.m. in the 600 block of Sonata Way in Silver Spring. A 34-year-old male resident was arrested after he threatened his landlord with a knife at the residence.
- On June 29 at 12:44 a.m. in the 1700 block of Kiva Road in Silver Spring. Domestic-related, the suspect physically assaulted the victim. A 24-year-old male was arrested.
- On July 5 at 11:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of Bel Pre Road in Aspen Hill. Domestic-related. A 27-year-old female was arrested.
- On July 6 at 1:10 a.m. in the 2700 block of Randolph Road in Silver Spring. The male victim was on foot when the a vehicle operated by the suspect pulled up next to the victim. The passenger displayed a gun. The victim ran east on Randolph and flagged down MCP. The suspects' vehicle continued westbound on Randolph. The suspects were described as two black males. The suspect vehicle was described as a dark-colored Dodge Charger or Magnum.
- On July 4 at 3:30 a.m. at Carmody Drive and Alberti Drive in Silver Spring. The victims were outside talking. A driver and passenger were driving the wrong way on a one-way street. After the victims called out that the car was going the wrong way, the passenger displayed a gun, threatened the victims, and continued driving. The suspects were described as two Hispanic males. The suspect vehicle was described as a black SUV, possible Durango or Explorer, with Maryland tags.
Robbery
- On July 1 at 12:22 a.m. in the 8400 block of 10th Avenue in Silver Spring. Three suspects approached the adult male victim as he got out of his vehicle in a parking lot. Two displayed guns and demanded the victim's property. The suspects searched the victim's pockets and fled in a black mini-van. The suspects were described as three Hispanic males, 24, dark clothing.
- On July 4 at 12:54 a.m. in a parking lot in the 500 block of Domer Avenue in Silver Spring. The suspects approached the adult male victim, one displayed a gun and demanded the victim's property. The victim complied and the suspects fled. The suspects were described as two black males, 18-20, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall.
- On July 5 at 7:20 p.m. in the lot of a Shell station, 11150 New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring. The suspects approached two juvenile male victims and demanded property. The suspects took personal property and fled on foot. The suspects were described as black males, 14-17, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, one wore a shirt with a comic book theme on the front.
- On July 5 at 9:20 p.m. in the 11200 block of Oak Leaf Drive in Silver Spring. The 18-year-old male victim was approached by three suspects who demanded cash. When the victim did not comply, one suspect displayed a knife and took personal property, then fled on foot. The suspects were described as black male, 15-17, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140-150 pounds and two black females, 13-14, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall.
- On June 30 at 1:13 a.m. in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring. The suspects approached the adult male victim as he sat in his vehicle in a parking lot, displayed a gun, and demanded his property. A 26-year-old male and a 16-year-old female both from Silver Spring were arrested.
- On July 2 at 1:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 3300 block of Teagarden Circle in Silver Spring. The suspects approached the juvenile male victim and searched him. One suspect implied he had a weapon but none was seen. The suspects fled on foot with the victim's personal property. The suspects were described as two black males, 17-18, 5 feet 4 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall, dreadlocks.
- On July 2 at 12:20 p.m. at Sovereign Bank, 17920 Georgia Ave. in Olney. The suspect presented a note demanding money. The teller complied with the demand, and the suspect fled. The suspect was described as a black male, 20-30, 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, dark complexion, mustache and goatee, blue baseball cap, sunglasses, long black dreadlock wig, grey polo shirt, faded blue jeans.
Armed robbery
- On July 2 at 1:22 p.m. at Sutherland Road and Lanark Way in Silver Spring. The suspects approached the victims and demanded money. A fight ensued and one suspect displayed a gun and assaulted a second victim before fleeing. A 17 year-old male from Silver Spring and an 18-year-old male from Olney were arrested a short time later.
- On July 3 at 7:07 p.m. in the 9000 block of Manchester Road in Silver Spring. The suspects approached the victim, one displayed a knife and demanded cash. The suspects fled on foot. Unknown whether anything taken. The suspects were described as two black males, one described as having three star tattoos under his left eye.
- On July 6 at 3:30 p.m. in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring. The juvenile male victim was approached by six suspects, one displayed a knife and demanded and took personal property. The suspects fled on foot. The suspects were described as black males.
- On July 5 at 1:25 a.m. in the 2800 block of Shepperton Terrace in Silver Spring. The suspects approached two adult male victims, one suspect displayed a shotgun. The suspects then searched the victims and took personal property before fleeing in a black Lincoln or Cadillac. The suspects were described as two black males, 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing masks, gloves.
- On July 5 at 5 a.m. at a bus stop in the 13800 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring. The suspects approached the adult male victim, one displayed a gun and demanded the victim's property. The victim complied and the suspects fled on foot. The suspects were described as three black males, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 150-190 pounds, dreadlocks.
Strong-arm robbery
- On June 30 at 4 a.m. in the area of University Boulevard and Buckingham Drive in Silver Spring. The suspects approached the adult male victim. The victim fled and was chased and knocked down by the suspects. The suspects took personal property. The suspects were described as two black males, 20, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 130-140 pounds.
- On July 6 at 3:30 a.m. in the area of East. Wayne Avenue and Bradford Road in Silver Spring. The adult male victim had just gotten out of a car when he noticed four suspicious individuals in the area and fled. The suspects chased the victim, knocked him down, and removed personal property. The suspects were described as black female, 22, 5 feet 7, 170 pounds and four black males, 24, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, one suspect wore a white mask.
- On July 4 at 5:01 a.m. at Piney Branch Road and Carroll Avenue in Silver Spring. The female victim was approached by a suspect who took her purse and fled in a black vehicle occupied by additional suspects. The suspects were described as four Hispanic males.
- On July 3 at 2 p.m. in front of the Brazilian Market, 11425 Grandview Ave. in Silver Spring. The victim was physically assaulted and property taken. The suspect was described as a Brazilian male, 40's, 5 feet 10-6 feet tall, 180 pounds.
Vehicle larceny
- Ellsworth Drive, Wayne Avenue, Eastern Avenue, Cameron St, 16th Street and Spring Street in Silver Spring, between June 28 and July 5. Nine vehicles targeted. In eight of the nine incidents, windows were broken. GPS systems taken in six of the incidents.
- 14900 block of Windmill Terrace, between 8:30 p.m. on June 28 and 6:15 a.m. on June 29. Vehicle left unlocked, loose change, credit/debit cards taken.
- 500 block of Hawkesbury Lane. between 8:05 p.m. on June 30 and 8 a.m. on July 1. Vehicle left unlocked, loose change, credit/debit cards taken.
- 1200 block of Crockett Lane, at 8 p.m. on June 30. Vehicle left unlocked, loose change, credit/debit cards taken.
Commercial burglary
- Shelton Hair Salon, 910 Gist Ave in Silver Spring, at 9:01 a.m. on July 3. Unknown entry, unknown if property taken.
- The Providence Christian School, 4515 Sandy Spring Road in Burtonsville, between 5 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. on June 29. Forced entry, nothing taken.
- Norbeck Citgo, 15450 Georgia Ave. in Rockville, at 3:15 a.m. on July 3. Forced entry, nothing taken. The suspect was described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall.
- Stephen Knolls School, 10731 St. Margarets Way in Silver Spring, overnight between June 29 and June 30. Unknown entry, property taken.
Residential burglary
- 2200 block of Evans Drive in Silver Spring, at 5:13 a.m. on July 5. Unknown entry, unknown if property taken.
- 8700 block of Gilbert Place in Silver Spring, at 8:20 p.m. on June 30. Forced entry, property taken. The suspects were described as a Hispanic male, 45, a Hispanic male, 17, and two black males, 16-18, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, 145-155 pounds.
- 1900 block of Oakview Drive in Silver Spring, between noon and 9:30 p.m. on July 2. Forced entry, property taken.
- 400 block of Legato Terrace in Silver Spring, between 1:48 a.m. and 3:15 a.m. on July 5. Forced entry, property taken. The suspect was described as a black female, 26, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 143 pounds
- 300 block of Warrenton Drive in Silver Spring, at 2:22 p.m. on June 29. Unknown entry, unknown if property taken.
- 1400 block of Chilton Drive in Colesville, at 3:29 a.m. on July 1. Attempted forced entry, none gained, nothing taken. The suspects were described as two males.
- 2200 block of Hidden Valley Lane in Silver Spring, between 8 p.m. and 8:37 p.m. on July 3. Property taken from an open garage.
- 3900 block of Madison Park Lane in Burtonsville, between 6 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. on July 2. Forced entry, property taken.
- 15500 block of Aitcheson Lane in Burtonsville, between 7:20 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. on July 4. Forced entry, property taken.
- 14500 block of Good Hope Road in Colesville, between 1 p.m. on June 28 and 10:12 p.m. on June 30. Unknown entry. Nothing taken.
- 1300 block of Peaceful Lane in Colesville, between 12:30 p.m. on June 26 and 7 a.m. on June 27. No forced entry, property taken.
- 15100 block of Snowden Drive in Colesville, at an unknown time between June 27 and July 5. Forced entry, nothing taken.

- 3500 block of Pear Tree Court in Olney, at 1:45 p.m. on July 2. Domestic-related, unknown entry, unknown if property taken. A 27-year-old female from Aspen Hill was arrested.
- 4600 block of Falcon Street in Rockville, at 3:12 a.m. on July 1. A homeowner saw the suspects attempting to force entry. They fled in a dark colored SUV when they knew they had been seen. The suspects were described as three Hispanic males.
- 13900 block of Parkland Drive in Rockville, at 5:22 p.m. on June 29. Unknown entry, unknown if property taken.
- 12500 block of Heurich Road in Silver Spring, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. on July 1. Forced entry, property taken.
- 12000 block of Remington Drive in Silver Spring, at 12:50 p.m. on June 29. A window was forced, no entry gained.
